Today we cover the third of our three-part vision for our church.
The three points are Up-reach, In-reach, Outreach
What is outreach?
It is our response to Jesus’ “Great Commission” found in Mathew 28
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20, NKJV.
As we will examine this text in today’s message (above) we will discover many important aspects of the great commission.
The great commission involves “making disciples” rather than simply “getting decisions”. Making disciples includes teaching and training believers to obey Jesus and follow Him to the point of baptism and living a life pleasing to God. When we carry out the great commission properly, people get saved and become serious followers of Jesus. Believers get baptized. And true believers study the word of God for the purpose of practicing and obeying what it says.
That’s why the Apostle Paul told Timothy – “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2, NKJV.
Are you a disciple of Jesus? How would others recognize that?
There is an old saying, “If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”
Follow Jesus and be His disciple!
