We often talk about “the Gifts of the Sprit” (1Cor 12; Eph 4:11-12; Rom 12:6-8) and the importance of the entire body of Christ being active in allowing the Holy Spirit to work in their lives individually and corporately. But today’s text reveals another important evidence of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. It is “the fruit of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22-26). What hypocrisy it would be if we would seed to experience the mighty moving of the Holy Spirit in “gifts of power” but not in “fruitful living”.

Today’s text reveals yet two more evidences of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. These are “selflessness” and “unity”. Read the text and see what I mean.

“Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.”  Acts 4:32-35, NKJV.

Take a look at the fruit that the Apostle Paul lists for us in Galatians 5…

“But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another.”  Galatians 5:22-26, NLT.

Prayer: God help me to live my life in authentic surrender to You even in the private or secret parts of my life.
