Have you ever gone through a season of hopelessness in your life? Have you ever experienced a total disparity of life itself? If and when you do, you must understand that what you are going through is nothing strange. Life is full of challenges, disappointments and tragedies. The Bible records example after example of godly people who loved the Lord and walked in His ways, yet experienced disasters in life. Think of the stories of Job or Jeremiah or Daniel. Consider in the New Testament all the Apostles and Paul who we are reading about currently. Read and ponder the following scriptures and allow the Lord to give you light…

“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.” 1 Peter 4:12, 13

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Understand that your unfortunate circumstances don’t necessarily mean that God is angry at you. Sometimes we do suffer for doing wrong and “reap what we sow” as the scriptures say. But many times we are simply going through life’s journey. Keep your eyes on Him and know that He is with you and will get you through. Knowing this truth gives us confidence.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4
