As we continue our journey through the book of Hebrews, we come to this priceless text which pinpoints the key to the victorious Christian life, God’s living word! All things were created when God spoke in Genesis. He spoke. And by His word He brought forth life. And today, it is still God’s word that brings life to us all. God’s living word produces faith (Romans 10:17). God’s word causes us to be born again (1 Peter 1:23). God’s word sustains us (Colossians 1:17). Jesus is the Living Word of God (John 1:1 & 14; Revelation 19:13). If we continue in God’s word we will be nourished and sustained.

So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. For the word of God is alive and powerful. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, NLT)

Never forget God’s prescription for our spiritual health.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42, NLT)
