In today’s text (Acts 13:31-41) we will examine God’s plan of salvation as preached by the Apostle Paul. You will find that God’s plan of saving us from our sins is consistent through the entire Bible. Forgiveness of sin and eternal life is offered freely by God’s grace through faith (Romans 3:24).
This is the only recorded message of Paul in the book of Acts.
In Paul’s message he clearly states…
“Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; “and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.” Acts 13:38-39, NKJV.
Paul’s unswerving message to his fellow Jews was that our efforts of obedience to the law can never save us. Only Jesus Christ can save. And He saves by grace through faith. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Paul wrote to the church in Corinth…
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you–unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, NKJV.
This Gospel is not a “take it or leave it” message. It is a “life and death” message. Those who believe in Christ find forgiveness of sin and eternal life (John 3:16). Those who reject Christ reject their only hope of salvation (John 3:36; Mark 16:16).
