“Knowing the Peace of God”
If there is one thing which should be in the hearts & mind of those who are followers of Jesus, and believers in the Almighty it’s this, Peace! John 14:27, Galatians 5:22. But not everything believer has this to the extent the Bible reveals. There are two types of peace we can have. The first is the Peace with God and the second of the Peace from God.
- The Peace with Godis what we ought to experience when we come to faith trusting Christ as our Savior & Redeemer from sin. It’s what we receive when we raise the white flag of surrender. It’s being made right with God and restored into right relationship. It’s where God’s wrath is appeased because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us which we have in turned believed and trusted. 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Timothy 2:5, 1 John 1:9. Because of this Peace we should no longer fear God’s judgement for sin.
- The Peace of God however is the peace we should experience daily as we trust Jesus as the Lord of our lives with the daily trials, difficulties and hardships. This is the understanding that God is always in control, knows all things, has a plan & purpose with my life, and will complete that which He has begun in me. The challenge here is living in faith battling the emotions and feelings which so often can carry us away.
It can be summed up this way. Jesus as savior brings the Peace with God, and Jesus as Lord brings The Peace of God in our everyday living. Let me ask, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ today, have you been living with the attitude of Jesus being Lord in your life? Is He your master, leader, and captain? Have you experienced the Peace of God? If you’re unsure, begin living and praying making Jesus the Lord of your life each and every day and in each of every circumstance. It’s then we can experience what Paul mentions in Philippians 4:7,“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Amen!
