Have you ever wondered how the world is going to end? There have been many dramatic movies and books written about alien invasions, meteor collisions, or total planetary collapses. But the Bible tells us how the world will end. As a matter of fact, it depicts not just an end, but a new beginning. First, all who oppose God will be judged. Then God will establish a new heaven and new earth. Today we will just scratch the surface of this scenario. Are you ready for this?
“And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So, when all these things begin to happen, stand, and look up, for your salvation is near!”” (Luke 21:25–28, NLT)
Does this text make you fearful or joyful? It all depends upon where you stand with God. Where do you stand? Are you His? Are you following the path He set for you? Are you living for Him? Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? If so, you are ready for His return. If not, you need to repent and ready your heart for His coming.
“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.” …“Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.” (Matthew 25:31-34, 41, NLT)
Good news, Bad news
The plain truth is, there will be an incredible judgment from God someday. Not everyone will be found pleasing to Him. Some will spend eternity with God in His kingdom. Some will be cast into fiery judgment. Prepare yourselves for that day.
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. For he must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through his holy prophets.” (Acts 3:19–21, NLT)
