Many people love to “count their blessings” or say, “I am blessed”. But what most do not realize is one of the greatest ways God blesses us is in bringing us to repentance and delivering us from our sins through Christ.
“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” Acts 3:26, NKJV.
Repentance is a change of heart and mind
that leads to a change of behavior and lifestyle.
Our text today lists four distinct blessings found in repentance.
- Repentance invites the blotting out of our sins.
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…” Acts 3:19a
- Repentance brings “times of refreshing from the Lord”.
“Repent therefore and be converted…so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” Acts 3:19
- Repentance spares us from destruction.
“‘And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’” Acts 3:23
- Repentance delivers us from a wicked lifestyle and all its consequences.
“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” Acts 3:26
Lord teach us how precious the word “repentance” really is. God help us to live a life of repentance.
