“A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit,” 1 Corinthians 12:7-9, HCSB.
In our study of the spiritual gifts, we have already taken a close look at two of the nine gifts listed in 1Corinthians 12. We looked at the message of wisdom and the message of knowledge. Today we will cover the gifts of faith and healing.
The words faith and healing are often used together by our Pentecostal brethren. Sometimes people with a spiritual gift of healing are called, “faith healers”. This can be misleading. Too often people equate faith with healing as if anyone can be healed if they just have enough faith. But there is much more involved in whether a person is healed or not besides his faith. We will discuss some of those factors this in today’s study. We will examine the spiritual gifts of faith and healing separately because they are indeed two individual gifts of the Holy Spirit.
It is important to remember that every spiritual gift is a “manifestation of God’s Spirit” (1Cor 12:7). In other words, God personally reveals Himself to us is through the spiritual gifts.
It is also crucial to understand that every believer has a spiritual gift. Do you know what your gift is?
Pray that God reveals your spiritual gift. And remain open to everything He has for you.
