The more we learn about Jesus, the more we realize that He is unlike any other. He is God made flesh Who dwelt among us (John 1:14). He is the Messiah and Savior of the world (John 4:42; 1John 4;14). He is the great healer (Luke 4:40). There is nothing He can’t do.
Previously, Jesus quoted the great promise of God found in Isaiah and applied it to Himself…
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”” (Luke 4:18–19, NKJV)
Jesus is not only the great bringer of truth, but the only One Who truly sets men free. Today’s text …
When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ. Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.”
(Luke 4:40–44, NKJV)
Jesus alone can bring us back to God, because Jesus alone paid the ransom for our sins.
“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:24–25, NKJV)
Come to Him and be healed of your deadly sin sickness.Pastor Mike
