Today we will explore a little deeper into the subject of worship as we will establish Jesus Christ’s biblical right to be worshipped and then we move on to lay out five reasons to worship.
Let’s take a look at some of the texts we will use to establish these truths.
First: Is it biblical to worship Jesus?
“For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, “that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” John 5:22, 23, NKJV.
“Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11, NKJV.
“But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”” Hebrews 1:6, NKJV.
See if you can identify some reasons to worship God in the following verses.
“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
Revelation 4:11
“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to Godby Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,” Revelation 5:9, NKJV.
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John 4:23, NKJV.
“Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known Hisdeeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” Psalms 105:1-5, NKJV.
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.”Psalms 22:3
