“THEN when the actual day of Pentecost came they were all assembled together. Suddenly there was a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were seated. Before their eyes appeared tongues like flames, which separated off and settled upon each one of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit gave them power to proclaim the message.” Acts 2:1-4, Philips Translation

  •  In today’s text God fulfills His promise by sending “The   Promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4)
  •  Jesus keeps His word in sending “The Helper” (John 15:26)
  •  The followers of Jesus are now “empowered” and enabled to go out with boldness and preach the gospel to the world (Acts 1:8)

It is very important that we understand that this promise is not for a select few but for all believers. The Holy Spirit did not only fall upon the twelve apostles or Mary or a few chosen ones, but on all 120 believers who were praying and waiting in obedience to Jesus’ command.

God wants to fill and empower you to boldly serve Him. Do you desire empowerment? Ask and you shall receive.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
